Our Chicago trip!

For my birthday, John surprised me with a trip to Chicago and I almost died at his sweetness! He did such a good job keeping it a secret for months, and actually planned most of it with the help of a fashion blogger I follow, Olivia Rink. As our first birthday together as a married couple, I’d say he set the bar super, super high for the years to come 😉

Night one dinner: The Signature Room on the 95th floor

This was SO unbelievably cool. I laugh at this picture because we both were a little nervous about being up that high, but got through it with all the delicious food (and birthday cake!).

Our hotel was close to one of the boardwalks, which was so beautiful to walk on in the morning before the crowds got crazy. Note to self for next time: bring better walking shoes!

Cloud Gate AKA the bean. A cool thing to check off our bucket list!

We were about to head on a boat tour when we stopped for coffee & a snack at this cute little bakery right by the river. The way this city was built around the water was honestly so beautiful and unique that I could’ve sat here all day.

Hot dogs are my guilty pleasure so I was dying to try a Chicago dog. Best thing I ate the whole weekend.

Chicago Art Museum

At the Art Institute of Chicago! John really is so thoughtful. He knows I love art so much that he spent an entire afternoon just roaming around the museum with me.

Wait, I take back what I said about the hot dogs. THIS was my favorite thing we ate! This beautiful, two story restaurant was so stinking adorable, I didn’t want to leave. The Allis also has afternoon tea (which we missed) but will plan for next time we come!

And to wrap up our trip, John surprised me with a session with Elizabeth Nord, a Chicago photographer! I am so grateful for these sweet pictures we have to remember this trip with, and for my John for being so thoughtful in his love.
